Apologies for a belated mixtape... for I was on my holidaze, and that included a much needed holiday from computers and the innernet. However, I've used my vacation as inspiration.
This week's podcast needs little explanation. Who doesn't love New York? I no longer live there, but the handful of years I spent there will likely stay in my heart forever. Of course, having visited there last week, I was inspired to put it all together in a bonus double length mix.

Friday Mixtape #26 - I Love New York
In a way, putting together a mix that fully encapsulates New York is nearly an impossible task as it has so many neighborhoods, personalities, histories... I suppose this mix is slightly more focused on those early genres which were spawned from the great dark underground depths of the giant, constantly changing machine that is New York. It's a little bit of an idealised memory of the place, before it turned into the commercial and glistening metropolis that it is now. It still amazes me how influential it is, how many new ideas are born there every day especially when it comes to music. The music which patiently reflects the feeling and the constant changes that take place - waiting until those new sounds explode worldwide.
The mix includes:
1. Native New Yorker - Odyssey
2. Cactus Cooler (Citizen Kane's White Night Riot Mix) - The Beat Broker
3. Cavern - Liquid Liquid
4. I Feel Love (Patrick Cowley Mix) - Donna Summer
5. Confusion - New Order
6. Rapture - Blondie
7. Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll - Vaughan Mason And Crew
8. Empire State of Mind - Jay Z & Alicia Keys
9. South Bronx - Boogie Down Productions
10. The Message - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
11. Genius of Love - Tom Tom Club
12. Brass Monkey - The Beastie Boys
13. Jump On It - Sugar Hill Gang
14. Contort Yourself - James Chance and The Contortions
15. Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
16. Kool Thing - Sonic Youth
17. So Fine (Chairlift Remix) - Telepathe
18. Borderline - Madonna
19. Femme Fatale - The Velvet Underground
20. Brooklyn - Plastic Little
Enjoy.
